Border Collie - Small - Young - Female - Dog - Brittney
Brittney has earned her CGC! Look for Brit's updates at Brittney Hello all you good people out there! This is Brittney! My foster mom wanted me to tell you a little bit about myself as she is just SOOO busy taking care of me & my foster brothers. First, let me tell you a little bit of background about me. I was found in the parking lot of a WalMart-only natural seeing as how I am SUCH a bargain! I thought for sure I was going to get lucky & someone would take me home to be theirs forever, but instead I was taken to a shelter. Lucky for me the wonderful people at North Star found me there when they came to see another dog. They knew a bargain when they saw one & before I knew it I was on my way to my foster home. I am the perfect little girl and my foster mom thinks that I am a Border Collie and Australian Kelpie mix. What is a Kelpie you ask? It is a herding dog from Australia used to herd sheep and cattle. I have recently earned my Canine Good Citizen (CGC) from the AKC club. More information can be found at http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/program.cfm I have been tested for temperament in 10 areas to earn this certification. My foster mom is teaching me skills, but I know they are really games with funny names. She calls them the name game, come, sit/maintain, the greeting game & leash walking. I like playing the games with my foster mom, but my favorite thing is to be held & cuddled with. I LOVE PEOPLE! I am also VERY food motivated! My foster mom says I would be a great agility prospect. She says I am VERY fast and athletic & can jump 20' straight up in the air and spin. Along with the obedience training that we have been working on, I have started puppy agility. I am having a blast and have learned channel weaves, low jumps, tire jump, and tunnel. We will soon be working on contact equipment. I am fast and agile, true to my breeds. I am also very good with my recall so recently I am able to do off leash hikes for hours on end. Anytime I get too interested in something that maybe not good for me, my foster mom tells me leave it and I happily go back to her. Over the summer, we have been going to a place called Friday Night Live and I have met many great people. Many have said that I am the perfect puppy and I feel so soft. I have been taught to greet people properly and will sit and wait to be petted. There is many people at this place and my foster mom calls it a crowd. I am fine withthe crowd placeas my foster mom is very careful that I am always treated with respect and I have learned to love meeting many new people. The children that I have met have been very respectful of me and stroke my soft fur which I love so much. I sleep through the night and no longer need to be crated at night. I am also housetrained and havent had an accident in a long time. I really dont remember the last time! I am crated in the day because I am still a puppy and not a big chewer but sometimes I do like to steal a sock or two out of the hamper. My foster mom says the crate keeps the good dog good. There are these weird things here one is called a parrot-he talks too much so I ignore him & horses-they are too big to play with and I have been taught to ignore them too. I will run towards them if they run but my foster mom says leave it and I am ok with returning to her as she is more fun to be with. There are also other dogs here & I love to play with them! I wrestle my foster brother all the time and we play games together..... sometimes herding games. I have lots of fun playing outside with my foster siblings. The running for the 'chuck-it' ball and the frisbee is a great time. This place is great, but I really would like to have a family of my very own. If you are looking for someone to cuddle with, I am the girl for you. If you have any questions about me, you can email my foster mom at northstar@pentel.net . If you think I might be the dog you have been looking for and would like to be my forever family, please fill out an adoption application at http://www.northstarbcr.org/adoption_application/adoption.php .More videos of Brittney:
