Are your students aware of the world and the cultures surrounding them? Would it benefit them to learn of such diverse places as China, Ecuador, Germany, and Thailand? What kind of influence could your students have on a student from another country? I would like to give you the opportunity to partner with OCEAN to offer your students these possibilities. Our program is designed to “promote international understanding, cultural awareness and academic excellence.” (Program Information, José DePontes. Tempe, AZ: OCEAN, 2007. P. 5) The exchange students range in age from 15 to 18 years old, have not graduated high school, go through a strict screening process, and are required to have a good command of the English language. We have students now who are looking for second-semester placement (January to June 2010) or calendar-year placement (January to December 2010).
